TYLER EVERINGHAM MOVES UP AT PIRTEK PERTH SUPERNIGHT

Half Price Parts Velocity magazine Media Driver Tyler Everingham left Perth confident that he will be a top 10 contender in the 2019 Dunlop Super 2 Series, his results throughout the early practice sessions had Everingham comfortably inside the top 10 before a brake balance issue hindered his pace during qualifying for the first race of the weekend.

“I showed strong pace in Thursday practice ending the day in P4,” Everingham explained. “I went into Qualifying on Friday morning with confidence but unfortunately suffered a long brake pedal as a result of a warped disc. Ended up P16 for Race 1”

While Perth’s  Barbagallo circuit combines a long back straight with sweeping corners, the track is limited in overtaking opportunities. Tyler’s 16th position for race 1 made it difficult for the young driver from Dubbo to make much headway as he attempted to move towards the top 10.  Everingham fought with Mason Barbera, Brenton Grove and Justin Ruggier in a tight pack and finished just over a second behind the 12th placed Barbera.

“I was only able to move forward one position and finished race 1 in 15th,” Everingham admitted. “It is really hard to pass at this track especially since the grip levels are now so high due to the resurfacing but it is all a learning experience and some good race miles”

Tyler qualified inside the top 10 for the second and final race of the weekend, in a tightly fought battle. Such was the level of competition that just 1 second would have placed him in 5th for the race.

The field compressed heavily at the start of the race and Everingham dropped out of the top 10 as he looked to avoid any potential mayhem. He drove an excellent race and seized every opportunity to regain track position. The chequered flag fell with Tyler just shy of a top 10 finish.

“Qualifying on Saturday was positive, pace was good,” Tyler Everingham said. “Ended up P8 and just under 3 tenths off pole. Didn’t have the best start to Race 2 but overall a good finish ending the session in P12”

The weekend brought Tyler the reassurance that a top 10 finish during the season is definitely within the realms of possibility.

“It was exciting to race in the dark at Barbagallo Raceway over the weekend,” Tyler said enthusiastically. “Overall I had a good weekend. I am Looking forward to Townsville for the next round of the series.”
