Max Vidau has made the perfect start to the 2019 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge, winning all three races at Symmons Plains Raceway today.
The Bob Jane T-Marts driver was in great touch, qualifying second to Harri Jones before asserting his authority on the competitive 22 car field, winning all three races with challenges few and far between.
Category debutant Aaron Love, the younger brother of fellow Sonic Carrera Cup driver Jordan Love, made an excellent start to his Porsche career, finishing fourth in all three races. The results saw him claim fourth overall for the event.
Sonic racer Graham Williams, competing in the Amateur class, enjoyed a positive weekend, finishing seventh in class and 13th overall.
The next round of the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge will be held at Sydney Motorsport park on May 17-19.

“It was a really good start to the year. Three races, three race wins, you can’t ask for anything more,” said Max Vidau.
“Full credit to the Sonic guys. They gave me an awesome car all weekend and we can’t wait to the next round.
“For me, the best moment of the weekend was my start in Race 2. I felt that was the best start I’ve ever had. I launched really well and I was able to maintain the gap to the field. It was a pretty good feeling.
“We’ve got nice momentum, so hopefully we can go to Sydney and keep it going.”

“It was a pretty consistent weekend for us,” said Aaron Love.
“There are still a few improvements that should get us ups there a bit more.
“I competed against Ryan (Suhle) last year and I was hoping to be a bit closer to him, but I think with what we’ve learnt this weekend, we’ll make the improvements and move forward.
“The aim from here is to be challenging for a podium. I think we are definitely worthy of getting up there. We have the pace and ability. Maybe even a top two place is possible, but we’ll have to see.”

“It has been a great weekend, and a great weekend put on by Porsche – it was an awesome day out,” said Graham Williams.
“I think the most important thing for me was that I progressed in my journey.
“For me, Race 1 was good, Race 2 wasn’t that great and Race 3 was OK. The first race was really good. Everything just came together for me and it just seemed that everything was easier for me. It just seemed to flow.
“And important that the car is straight too. I have a ding in the front and a ding in the back by the middle part of it is all in one piece. The Sonic boys will give it a polish and get us on track at Sydney Motorsport park in a few weeks.”
