Erebus Motorsport is throwing their support behind the The Leukaemia Foundations’ World’s Greatest Shave ahead of the upcoming Melbourne 400. The Foundation’s logo will appear on the team’s Holden’s next week and fans are encouraged to donate, with each donor entered in the draw to win a hot lap.

“The World’s Greatest Shave is a fun initiative for a very serious disease and we’re proud to be able to play a small role in helping find a cure,” Barry Ryan CEO said.

“The Foundation do great work to help more people survive blood cancer by funding research and also help sufferers live a better life.”Team mechanic, Brad Packham, is saying goodbye to his mop and participating in the shave on Sunday March 17, and the team has a clear message for fans.

“We’d love for people to get behind it; every little bit adds up and will help those affected,” Ryan said.“Every person that donates to Brad’s page will go in the running to win a hot lap, and we’ll randomly pick a winner after the shave.”Packham has a very personal connection with the cause.“July last year my beautiful mother was one of the unlucky few diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia” Packham said.

“A couple of restless nights turned into a huge lump on her head and I saw her health deteriorate in only a week.”Blood cancer and related disorders such as leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma can develop in anyone, of any age, at any time.

Currently there are more than 60,000 Australians living with the disorder, with someone diagnosed every 41 minutes.“Mum didn’t want me to drop everything and living in different states means I’m not there to help every day, but this is something I can do to make a difference,” Packham said.“I’m very grateful for the support Erebus has given me and hope we can raise some more funds before the big day.”
