CHALLENGING DAY FOR MADELINE STEWART AT WINTON

The Super3 Supercars Series has its second round for 2019 at Winton Motor Raceway this weekend and Half Price Parts Velocity Media driver Madeline Stewart found the day somewhat challenging but managed to bank her best qualifying spot on the grid for race one today.

“I had a bit of a challenging day today. Having 2 practices and qualifying all in one day was actually pretty hard work. For most people it would not sound that bad having three 20 minute on track sessions in a day but there is actually a lot of things to do between sessions. By the time we have a debrief on how the car felt, any issues that need to be looked at, then go through the data to see what I can do to improve and make sure I stay hydrated and have something to eat, it’s time to get back in the car again, ” Madeline told Velocity Magazine.  “There is very little down time to collect your thoughts and think through how you are going to approach the next session.”

Yesterday the Super3 had three on track sessions with two practice 20 minute runs and to finish of the day qualifying.

“The first practice session I was 13th. Practice two was better as I was 10th quickest however, I didn’t really string a lap together as I kept finding myself in traffic. In qualifying I made a few errors but managed to get it all together on the last lap to qualify 12th. I’m happy to be starting mid field and I’m really looking forward to racing tomorrow.”

Race one for the Super3 is first up this morning at 8.10AM, the track is wet after a couple of passing storms overnight, its unlikely there will be any dry running as the weather is suppose to see more rain developing.  The second race is at 12.35pm and both are slated for 12 laps.
